APPLE CRUMBLE

A perfect apple crumble recipe using BAKERS Blue Label® Marie biscuits. Spicy and delicious, this family favourite is best served warm with fresh whipped cream or ice-cream.

Serves 6

ingredients

125 ml BAKERS Blue Label® Marie biscuit crumbs

125 ml cake flour

125 ml soft brown sugar

125 g butter

1 x 397 g can unsweetened pie apples

65 ml apple juice

10 ml ground cinnamon

90 ml castor sugar

zest of 1 lemon

45 ml seedless sultanas

fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice-cream

instructions

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 200 ˚C.
  2. Place the BAKERS Blue Label® Marie biscuit crumbs in a mixing bowl and sift in the flour. Stir in the sugar and with your fingers rub the butter into the dry ingredients. Set aside.
  3. Chop the apples a little smaller and mix with the apple juice, ground cinnamon, castor sugar, lemon zest and sultanas. Place in a greased 20 – 30cm pie dish and sprinkle with the crumble.
  4. Bake in the oven for 15 – 20 minutes or until the crumble is golden brown. Serve warm with fresh cream or vanilla ice cream.

45 ml pitlose sultanas vars room of vanieljeroomys vir opdiening

  1. Sit die BAKERS Blue Label® Marie beskuitjiekrummels in ’n mengbak en sif die koekmeel in. Roer die suiker by en vryf die botter met jou vingers in die krummelmengsel.
  2. Sny die appels in klein blokkies en meng dit met die appelsap, kaneel, strooisuiker, suurlemoenskil en sultanas. Sit die appels in ’n gesmeerde tertbak en strooi die krummelmengsel bo-oor.
  3. Bak in ’n voorverhitte oond teen 200 ˚C vir 15 – 20 minute of tot die krummels goudbruin is. Bedien warm met vars room of vanieljeroomys.
  4. NS: Hierdie frummel smaak so lekker, jou gaste sal dink jy is ’n bobaas bakker.
