BISCUIT FLORENTINES

These crunchy biscuit treats are made using BAKERS Nuttikrust® biscuits, almond flakes and glacé cherries. Drizzle with melted chocolate for extra flair and flavour!

Makes about 24

 

100 g butter

125 ml soft brown sugar

65 ml honey

125 ml flaked almonds

65 ml finely chopped glacé cherries

65 ml mixed peel

45 ml flour sifted

200 ml BAKERS Nuttikrust® biscuits, made into fine crumbs

200 g melted milk chocolate (optional)

Honestly, these gorgeously crisp and lacy praline wafers don’t need the chocolate topping. Although they are traditionally covered in chocolate, you could very well end up spoiling two good things: the Florentines and the chocolate.

 

 

  1. Pre-heat oven to 180 oC.
  2. Process the BAKERS Nuttikrust® biscuits in a food processor to make 200 ml of crumbs.
  3. Melt the butter and add the sugar and honey. Stir until combined then add the almonds, cherries, mixed peel, flour and BAKERS Nuttikrust® biscuit crumbs.
  4. Spoon small dessert spoonfuls of the mixture onto non-stick baking sheets, spacing them well apart. Flatten and shape the Florentines into neat disks.
  5. Place on the middle rack of the oven and bake for 5 – 6 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from oven, allow to cool slightly in the trays then loosen with a spatula or palette knife and transfer to a rack to cool completely.
  6. If using chocolate, then simply spread the cooled Florentines with melted chocolate and make a wavy pattern in the chocolate with a fork. Allow chocolate to firm completely before serving.

125 ml sagte bruinsuiker

65 ml heuning

125 ml gevlokte amandels

65 ml fyngekapte geglaseerde kersies

65 ml gemengde sitrusskil

45 ml koekmeel, gesif

200 ml growwe BAKERS Nuttikrust® krummels

200 g gesmelte melksjokolade (opsioneel)

 

  1. Smelt die botter en voeg die suiker en heuning by. Roer deeglik en voeg dan die amandels, kersies, gemengde sitrusskil, koekmeel en BAKERS Nuttikrust® krummels by.
  2. Skep eetlepelsvol van die mengsel in kleefvrye bakplate. Druk die hopies platter en maak elke Florentyntjie netjies en rond. Laat genoeg ruimte tussen die hopies.
  3. Bak dit op die middelste rak van ’n voorverhitte oond teen 180 oC vir 5 – 6 minute of tot ligbruin. Haal dit uit en laat effens in die bakplate afkoel.
  4. Lig hulle dan versigtig uit met ’n eierspaan en plaas op ’n rakkie om heeltemal af te koel. Indien jy dit gebruik, smeer of bedruip die gesmelte sjokolade oor elke Florentyntjie en laat die sjokolade stol voor opdiening.
  5. NS: Hierdie wonderlike bros Florentyntjies benodig eintlik nie die sjokolade nie. Alhoewel hul tradisioneel so berei word, kan dit baie maklik twee lekkernye op die ou end bederf: die Florentyntjies en die sjokolade!

  1. Ncibilikisa ibhotela uhlanganise noshukela noju. Govuza kuze kuhlangane ubuse ufaka ama-alimondi, cherries, amakhasi axubiwe, ufulawa namaqhafuqhafu ama-BAKERS Nuttikrust®.
  2. Faka isipunu esincane yehlanganiselo epanini lokubhaka elinganamatheli, ushiye isikhala esanele nganxanye. Manje phathaza ubumbe amaflorentines abenobunono.
