This dark and decadent chocolate and coffee treat may take a little extra care and time to make but it will definitely be worth the effort. Decorate with BAKERS Boudoir® biscuits, chocolate leaves and satin ribbons to create a perfectly delicious and luxuriously sweet gift.

Serves 8 or more

 

ingredients

1 x 200 g packet of BAKERS Boudoir® biscuits

65 ml coffee liqueur or sweet black coffee

3 jumbo eggs, separated

65 ml castor sugar

45 ml coffee granules

300 g melted milk chocolate

200 ml melted butter

250 ml cream, stiffly beaten

100 g melted dark chocolate

whipped cream (extra)

But don’t rush it: make it the day before. That will ensure that it sets well overnight.

instructions

  1. Line a small loaf pan with cling film. Sprinkle the BAKERS Boudoir® biscuits with the liqueur or coffee and arrange them, standing upright with the sugared sides facing outwards, around the inner rim of the loaf pan.
  2. Arrange a few biscuits in the bottom to form a base and set aside.
  3. To make the filling, beat together the egg yolks, castor sugar and coffee granules until the sugar and coffee dissolve, then stir in the melted milk chocolate and butter.
  4. Lightly fold in the stiffly beaten cream so it does not lose any of its volume.
  5. In a seperate bowl, beat the egg whites into stiff peaks and fold in lightly into the mixture. Pour mixture into the biscuit base and cover completely with cling film.
  6. Chill overnight in the fridge or a couple of hours in the freezer then turn out and decorate with the melted dark chocolate and extra whipped cream.

65 ml koffielikeur of soet swart koffie

3 jumbo eiers, geskei

65 ml strooisuiker

45 ml koffiepoeier

300 g gesmelte melksjokolade

200 ml gesmelte botter

250 ml styfgeklitste room

ekstra geklopte room

100 g gesmelte donkersjokolade

 

instruksies

  1. Voer ’n klein broodpan met kleefplastiek uit. Besprinkel die BAKERS Boudoir® beskuitjies met die likeur of koffie en maak staan hulle regop al om die binnekant van die pan. Plaas ook ’n paar beskuitjies op die boom van die pan.
  2. Om die vulsel te berei, klits die eiergele, strooisuiker en koffiepoeier saam totdat die suiker en koffie opgelos is. Meng die gesmelte melksjokolade en botter ook by. Vou die room liggies in. Klits die eierwitte tot styf en vou dit ook by.
  3. Giet die mengsel in die pan en bedek met kleefplastiek. Verkoel oornag in die yskas of ’n hele paar ure in die vrieskas totdat die vulsel goed gestol is. Om te bedien, verwyder die kleefplastiek, plaas op ’n bord en garneer met die geklopte room en gesmelte donkersjokolade.
