CINNAMON TARTLETS

A surprising sticky toffee and custard treat. Using BAKERS® Digestive biscuits, this warm and sweet indulgence will delight even the most discerning dessert connoisseur.

Serves 8

1 x 200 g packet of BAKERS® Digestive biscuits

90 ml castor sugar

10 ml ground cinnamon

125 ml melted butter

3 large eggs

600 ml bought double toffee custard

5 ml vanilla essence

8 short cinnamon sticks

65 ml Demerara sugar

To serve

fresh whipped cream

instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven at 190 oC.
  2. Place the BAKERS® Digestive biscuits in a food processor and process to fine crumbs. Add 30 ml of the castor sugar, half of the ground cinnamon and all the melted butter. Pulse until combined.
  3. Push into the bottoms and sides of 8 small (10cm diameter) greased loose-bottomed flan rings.  Beat the eggs with remaining castor sugar then whisk in custard and vanilla essence.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared crusts and put a cinnamon stick in the centre of each. Bake for 20 minutes or until set. Remove from oven.
  5. Combine the Demerara sugar with the remaining ground cinnamon and sprinkle over the tart tops. Allow to cool a little and then remove the tarts from the rings, leaving the cinnamon sticks in place.
  6. Serve warm with whipped cream.

90 ml strooisuiker

10 ml fyn kaneel

125 ml gesmelte botter

3 groot eiers

600 ml klaargekoopte dubbeltoffie vla

5 ml vanieljegeursel

8 klein kaneelstokkies

65 ml demerara suiker

  1. Verkrummel die BAKERS Digestives Wholewheat beskuitjies in ’n voedselverwerker. Voeg 30 ml van die strooisuiker, 5 ml van die fyn kaneel en al die gesmelte botter by. Verwerk tot alles goed gemeng is.
  2. Druk die mengsel vas op die boom en kante van 8 klein (10 cm- deursnee) gesmeerde losboom randkoekpannetjies. Klits die eiers en die orige strooisuiker saam. Voeg die vla en vanielje by en klits saam.
  3. Skep die mengsel in die voorbereide korse en druk ’n kaneelstokkie in die middel van elkeen. Bak in ’n voorverhitte oond teen 190 oC vir 20 minute of tot die vulsel gestol is.
  4. Meng die demerara suiker met die orige fyn kaneel en strooi dit oor die tertjies. Laat toe om effens af te koel, verwyder die tertjies uit die ringe. Los die kaneelstokkies in. Bedien warm met geklitste room.

  3. Thela inhlanganisela kuqweqwe lolu osuluwenzile, ufake izinthi ezimfushane sesinamoni phakathi nendawo. Bhaka kuhovini osezingeni eluwi 190 oC ama-minithi awu 20 noma ise iqine.
  4. Hlanganisa ushukela we-Demerara no hafu osele wesinamoni ogayiwe ufafaze ngaphezulu kwesibiliboco sephestri. Vumela aphole bese ususa izibiliboco sephestri kwi shidi loku bhaka. Phaka esashisa no khilimu ophehliwe.
