These Citrus Triangles are the perfect summer indulgence using BAKERS Nuttikrust® biscuits. These zesty delights are easy to make and just as easy to eat.

Makes 24 – 32

 

ingredients

250 ml BAKERS Nuttikrust® biscuits, made into fine crumbs

250 ml  powdered milk

250 ml sugar

125 ml walnuts, chopped

10 ml vanilla essence

250 ml desiccated coconut

200 ml mixed citrus peel

250 ml melted butter

250 ml sifted icing sugar

50 ml warm water

45 ml orange zest

45 ml lemon zest

hints

Mixed citrus peel is finely chopped candied orange and lemon peel, popular for adding to fruit cake mixtures. If you cannot find it, use finely chopped glacé fruit instead.

 

instructions

  1. Place the BAKERS Nuttikrust® biscuit crumbs in a large mixing bowl and add the powdered milk, sugar, walnuts, vanilla essence, coconut, mixed citrus peel and melted butter. Mix well then press the mixture into a 20 x 30 cm pie dish.
  2. Mix the icing sugar with sufficient warm water to form a smooth paste.
  3. Stir in the zest and spread over the top. Place in the fridge to chill before cutting into triangles.

instruksies

  1. Sit die BAKERS Nuttikrust® krummels in ’n groot mengbak en voeg die melkpoeier, suiker, okkerneute, vanieljegeursel, klapper, versuikerde sitrusskil en margarien of botter by. Meng goed en druk die mengsel in ’n 20 x 30 cm-tertbak.
  2. Meng die versiersuiker met genoeg warm water om ’n gladde pasta te vorm, roer die repies suurlemoen- en lemoenskil by en smeer dit bo-op die krummelmengsel. Verkil tot ferm en sny in driehoeke.
  3. NS: Versuikerde sitrusskil (’n mengsel van lemoen- en suurlemoenskil) word gewoonlik by vrugtekoekmengsels gevoeg. ’n Goeie alternatief is fyngekapte geglaseerde vrugte.
