CRUMBED PRAWNS & LEMON CRéME

An impressive baked snack that will have your guests begging for the recipe! Once you’ve tasted these tangy little Crumbed Prawns & Lemon Cremé, you’ll never deep fry prawns again!

Makes 12 – 16

ingredients

100 g (½ pack) BAKERS Kips® Spring Onion flavoured crackers

12 – 18 (about 800 g) large prawns

salt and milled black pepper

2 egg whites

125 ml thick sour cream

30 ml grated lemon rind

30 ml finely chopped parsley

10 ml lemon juice

125 ml julienne strips of green spring onion tops

 

instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 200 ºC
  2. Place the BAKERS Kips® crackers in a processor and process into fine crumbs. Transfer to a shallow dish.
  3. Peel the prawns but leave the tails intact. Butterfly the prawns, remove the veins and season well with salt and pepper.Beat the egg whites into a light froth. Dip each prawn into the froth and then immediately into the crumbs, patting them lightly to ensure that they are evenly coated.
  4. Lay the prawns with the butterfly cuts facing upwards in a single layer on an oiled baking tray. Place in the oven  and bake for 3 – 5 minutes or until just done.
  5. Meanwhile combine the sour cream, lemon rind, lemon juice, parsley and set aside.
  6. To serve, arrange the prawns on a serving platter or in Chinese spoons arranged on a tray. Place a small dollop of the lemon crème on top of each prawn and garnish with the spring onion.  Serve immediately.

2 eierwitte

125 ml dik suurroom

30 ml gerasperde suurlemoenskil

10 ml suurlemoensap

30 ml fyngekapte pietersielie

125 ml sprietuie, in juliennerepies gesny

 

instruksies

  1. Verkrummel die BAKERS Kips® in ’n voedselverwerker en gooi dit oor in ’n vlak bak.
  2. Sny die garnale oop en verwyder die derms en doppe maar nie die stertpunte nie. Hulle is die ‘handvatsels’ vir die vingerhappie. Geur die garnale mildelik met sout en peper. Klop die eierwitte tot ’n ligte skuim. Doop elke garnaal in die skuim en dan in die krummels. Druk die krummels liggies vas.
  3. Plaas die garnale met die gesnyde kante na bo op ’n gesmeerde bakplaat. Bak in ’n voorverhitte oond teen 200 ºC vir 3 – 5 minute of net tot gaar. Meng dan die suurroom met die suurlemoenskil, die suurlemoensap en die pietersielie. Sit eenkant tot benodig.
  4. Om te bedien, rangskik die garnale in ’n opdienbord of Chinese lepels. Sit ’n klein skeppie van die suurlemoen-crème bo-op elke garnaal en garneer dit met repies sprietuie. Bedien dadelik.

  1. Beka amaBAKERS Kips® kwumushini woku gaya, ugaye kubeizimvuthu. Faka izimvuthu endishini engashonile. Hluba amaprawns kodwa ushiye imsila.
  2. Sika amaprawns phakathi nendawo ususe imthambo ufake izinongo usawoti nopepper. Govusa okumhlophe kweqanda. Cobhoza amaprawns emaqandeni bese ucobhoza emvuthwini uzimbabathe.
  3. Lalisa amaprawns ecaleni asikwe khona edihini yokubhaka. Bhaka kuhovini osezingeni la200 amaminithi awu 3 – 5. Hlanganisa ukhilimu omuncu, ikhasi lalamula eliqrethiwe noparsley ebeke eceleni. Faka amaprawns eplatini yokuphaka noma esipunini samachina.
  4. Faka icreme yalamula phezulu kwamaprawns uhlobise nespring onion, uphake kusashisa.
