A family feast of Greek sausages in Tomato Sauce, perfect for lunch or dinner.

Serves 8 or more



1 kg beef mince

1 clove garlic, crushed

1 small onion, grated

125 ml finely crushed BAKERS Salticrax® crackers

2 eggs, beaten

5 ml ground cumin

salt and freshly ground black pepper

oil for frying

125 ml white wine


30ml oil

2 cloves garlic, crushed

2 large onions, finely chopped

2 x 410 g canned chopped tomatoes

1 x 70 g can tomato paste

10 ml sugar

1 bay leaf

50 ml chopped parsley

1 beef stock cube

250 ml water

salt and pepper to taste


  1. Using hands, mix together thoroughly all the sausage ingredients except oil and wine.
  2. Shape into sausages about 8 cm long
  3. Heat oil and gently fry until well browned.
  4. Remove sausages and drain off oil
  5. Add wine, heat to lift pan juices and pour over sausages.


  1. To make sauce, heat oil and sauté garlic and onions until soft.
  2. Add all remaining ingredients and bring to the boil.
  3. Reduce heat, cover and simmer gently for 30 minutes.
  4. Add sausages and simmer for a 15 minutes to cook through.
  5. Remove bay leaf before serving.
