Savoury Tart made with all your favourite favourites - fried onions, bacon and cheese! Using Bakers Pro-vita Wholewheat crispbread in it’s base, this tart is seriously big on taste!
187 g (3/4 pack) Pro-Vita Wholewheat Crispbread
125 g butter
65 ml low-fat cream cheese, mustard flavour
pinch of cayenne pepper
125 ml chopped onions, fried
250 g bacon bits, crisply fried
250 ml grated mature cheddar cheese
300 ml prepared thin white sauce, seasoned
3 jumbo eggs
45 ml finely chopped parsley
Directions Place the Pro-Vita Wholewheat Crispbread in the processor and process into fine crumbs. Add the butter, cream cheese and pinch of cayenne pepper and pulse until combined. Push the mixture into the bottom and half-way up the sides of a 24 cm spring form pan. Lightly combine the fried onions, bacon bits and grated cheddar cheese and place in the crust. Whisk together the white sauce, eggs and parsley and pour into the crust. Bake in the oven pre-heated to 190 ºC for 25 – 30 minutes or until the filling is set. Remove savoury tart from oven and allow to cool a little before turning the tart out onto a platter. Serve warm.
